Napoleon is an independent workshop in Greensboro, NC specializing in hand-made, heirloom quality baby quilts. All of Napoleon’s quilts are hand-stitched by owner and quilter, Michela Maxwell. Napoleon’s quilts are limited edition, with as few as one, but no more than eight of each style ever made. Quilts are 100% cotton and machine-washable.

Michela has been quilting for nine years, beginning with pieced quilts and later developing a preference for whole cloth. Because Napoleon’s quilts are stitched by hand, whole cloth is the perfect canvas, emphasizing the beauty and detail of the stitching itself.

For her embellished work, Michela uses appliquè and embroidery, allowing her a wider range of artistic options while remaining within the context of whole cloth. Each quilt is, in essence, a “print”—a work of art in itself­—not a reproduction of an original, but an impression of a design.

The name Napoleon is meant to evoke more the stateliness of the quilts than their diminutive nature. Please browse the quilts to see if there is something right for your king-, queen-, or emperor-in-training.
